back to school

It is hard to believe but three out of four are back in school and no. four starts next week. The following week we will be engrossed in all of our fall activities like tennis (no. one and two), flag football (no. one), field hockey (no. two and three), soccer (no. one, three and four), brownies (no. two and three) along with cello lessons in school for no. four and language in school for no. one, two and three.

There is no such thing as free time for me around here.

critters

The kids found a sad little bird in the yard last week. They made it a nice little home and fed it. After two days they moved it into the trees and wished it luck.

the doll people

Right now I am reading The Doll People by Ann M. Martin to the kids. It is a great story about Annabelle Doll who lives in a dollhouse with the rest of her family (they've lived there for over 100 years). Nothing very exciting happens, and just when Annabelle thinks she will die of boredom, the Funcrafts move in. The Funcrafts are a family of plastic dolls who do not follow The Doll Code of Honor.

Everyone is loving it. They are dying to finish it so we can get the sequel, The Meanest Doll in the World.

five a day

I know that we go through a lot of produce every week. But until yesterday I never realized just how much fruit the kids eat each day. For some reason I took note of what I gave out. From breakfast until about 3:00 pm I handed out 1 pound of strawberries, 4 bananas, 4 apples, 3 yellow plums (have your tried these? they are really good.), and 1 whole melon. I think I can assume that the kids are getting their five a day.
