Spring

Happy first day of Spring. It is not very spring-like in these parts. We woke to snow on the ground and a small hail storm while out and about.

...in the everyday. Today happened to be while making brownies for some friends.

butter

I am still making homemade bread each week. I usually make one of two different loaves a week. A few days ago I saw a post on Angry Chicken about homemade butter and what could be better than homemade bread with homemade butter? After two of the kids got home from school today I decided to give it a try. I read the links from the post and decided to use the food processor. I was not able to get over to Whole Foods to get a really good heavy cream, so I had to make do with what a local fruit market had. The butter is pure bliss. I also divided the batch and made some honey butter for the kids. I ran out of time to try to make some biscuits with the buttermilk, but after I get the kids to bed tonight I will give it a try.

knitting

I started working on the purl soho rabbits for the girls easter baskets. I cut the material for the rabbits and began to knit one of the sweaters. It is going to take a bit of time since I am only working on them at night while they are asleep, but I think I'll get everything done.

spring in the house

I have been keeping fresh flowers in the house the past few weeks. It helps cheer the bleakness of the house while we wait for Spring. Yesterday I got these great peach tree blossoms at the farmer's market. It is a nice change from what I usually have.

summer dressing

I just finished this summer dress for the girls. I found the pattern online, but I am not really happy with the way that it turned out. I found the directions a bit difficult to follow. From the outside the dress looks fine, but the inside is a bit sloppy. I like to have the underside look just as finished as the outside. So, I have decided to make a new one and revise the pattern to something that I am happy with.

In an effort to make some spending money for a trip I have coming up, I have been trying to get my etsy shop back in order. I started putting some more items in the shop, and what do you know, I have had three sales in the past two days. If I can get more in, perhaps I will have a decent amount to bring with me.
