away

It is hard to believe that my husband and I leave for our trip this week. It will be the first time we have gone away and left the kids for more than 24 hours since having our first over nine years ago. Our last trip was to Spain and I think we left ten years ago to the day. I will be so nice to get away.

I honor of our trip I thought it would be fun to have a contest. Guess where we are going and you will win a pack of cards. The contest will end when someone gets it right or Thursday at 2:00 pm eastern time. I will start giving clues tomorrow if no one gets it before then.

Good Luck!

etsy

Over the past few days I have been adding new items to my etsy shop. I have lots more to post and hope to get them in the shop over the next few days.

To celebrate the warm weather that is on the way I thought it would be fun to have a sale for blog readers. Mention "blog" in the message part at checkout and receive free shipping on all orders over $20.

Happy Spring!

snapshot of spring 01

It is another overcast day here. I know sooner or later it will be nice, sad that it has to be later.

in season

On Sunday I decided to make a dessert for after dinner. I had come across a recipe for rhubard cobbler and thought it would be good to make since rhubarb is now in season. The cobbler was a huge hit. I served it with vanilla ice cream. My husband and the kids could not get enough. I think the biscuit topping will be used many times this summer as different berries come into season.

weekend

It was a busy weekend (they are all pretty busy around here). On Friday I took the kids into NYC. We walked around for a bit before my husband could meet us. I stopped into Pylones, a great store that I have been in a few times. I bought myself a fun wallet in a great poppy print, very cool. We then walked down to my husband's new office, looked at the new space and hung out while he finished up. After we left we stopped into PINK. My husband just bought me a great shirt from PINK for my birthday and the shirts are beautiful. I picked up two more shirts, they were having a special promotion and I got 20% off which softens the blow a bit. After PINK we stopped into Crumbs to get the kids a treat. The four of them split a cupcake (they really are that big). Since it was the end of the day they were almost out of everything. I don't care for cake of any sort, but I would love to see them all there, I bet it looks wonderful. Then a walk down to Battery Park and then headed towards dinner. The group decided on Mandoo Bar again, which was fine with me. It was a long day and we did not get home until 10:30.

Saturday was filled with sports for the kids. It was such a nice day to be outside. We cooked out and had our first dinner outside. The kids love eating outside on the patio. It was late to bed so they could look for bats.

Sunday was a clean-up day in the yard. Since the weather has been cold for so long we have fallen very behind in the outside work.

Today it is awful weather again and it is forcasted to rain for the next three days. Sooner or later it will have to get warm and stay warm, right?

half days

The kids had a half day yesterday, another today and one more tomorrow. Yesterday was an awful day. It was cold and rained for most of the day. I popped a big bowl of popcorn and put on a movie for the kids. Today the weather is much better. It is still a bit cool, but at least the sun is shining. I am going to take the kids to lunch and then send them out to play before the evening activities start. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful out so I have decided to take them into New York. We will head downtown and see my husbands new office and then maybe walk over to the South Street Seaport and then out to dinner. The last time we went to a great place in Koreatown, Mandoo Bar, and to tell you the truth I would not mind going there again, but we'll see.

It was forcasted to be a cool rainy day but instead it was warm and sunny, so we headed to the soccer field for a bit.

spring break

The kids started their spring break today so an outting was in order. The weather is still dismal here so it was off to the Please Touch. The kids had as much fun this time as they did when we went back in February. Now I need to come up with a plan for tomorrow, any ideas?

I am not a costume jewelry kind of girl, but I saw this necklace in the new J. Crew catalog and was rather taken with it. Interesting...

envy

When I was little I was not a big cartoon watcher. The only cartoon that I watched on a regular basis were The Smurfs and I was a huge fan. I had a some what large collection of the small plastic figures. Two of the firgures managed to survive and they currently live discretly in my living room. When I was little all I wanted for my smurf collection was a mushroom house. I longed for one of the mushroom houses, but I guess they were too expensive and that is why I never got one.

Several of my husbands sisters were in town this past weekend and brought no. 3 birthday presents (when all is said and done I think she will have had five birthday celebrations, oh to be young again!). Would you believe that one of the presents she got was a smurf mushroom house? Needless to say I was VERY jealous!
