bust

Our last few days of summer did not go according to plan. I nixed the trip into NYC because of heavy rains. It is way to much of a hassle to take the kids into the city in the rain. Our beach trip today got canceled due to the fact that it is only in the mid sixties right now. Oh well. Tomorrow is last minute shopping, open house at school and a brownie pool party (how they can swim in this cold is beyond me).

Despite the last few days being a bust, I think that the kids had a great summer overall!

end of summer

I am trying to make the last few days of summer fun filled (really, the whole summer was). Yesterday I took the kids into Philadelphia to the Please Touch, always fun. I then went over to the knitting store to treat myself, and of course it was closed. Today the older kids are having their friends sleep over. Tomorrow is a trip to the beach.

As am planning all of this I am also in the process of planning their fall activies and I am getting more depressed by the minute. Every weekend is taken over from now until mid-November. Almost every weekday evening will be taken over by an activity. It is not easy to fit everything in when they all like to do stuff.

baltimore

My husband took the day off on Friday and we took the kids down to Baltimore. The day was a success, the kids had a blast. We got there a bit later then planned, but had a nice lunch and then walked around the inner harbor for a bit. We then took them to the science museum which was a hit. They have a "wet lab" where the kids got to do their own experiment which they loved. We then went onto one of the ships and took a tour. Then it was a fast ice cream break and on to the next thing. The next activity was requested by the kids, and for the kids, a ride in the harbor on the chinese dragon paddle boats. We then went over to Fort McHenry which was very interesting. On our way home we stopped for dinner and then home to bed.

It was a long day, but lots of fun for the kids!

busy

Only two weeks of summer left. It is hard to believe how fast it went.

I am trying to fill the last two weeks with fun things to do for the kids (not that everyday has been some kind of fun activity for them, very spoiled). Yesterday I took them to the beach (six hundred miles closer then our trip last week). Today is a pool day and tomorrow I think we will do a picnic in Princeton (I need to get a few things) and then we have a trip to Baltimore planned for Friday.

Next week will be another busy week. I think we will head into Philadelphia for one more trip to the Please Touch and perhaps a picnic in Rittenhouse. We will get to the beach one day and the pool another and then on Friday we will got into NYC.

One other activity I was thinking to do with them was the crayola factory. I took them years ago and it was a hit. No. four was itty bitty, so it is something I think he would really like. We see how the week pans out.

back

We got back from our relocation to the beach in South Carolina this weekend. I have a hard time calling it a vacation since I find it to be ten times more work then being home. The laundry is endless, some days I do three loads. Sunscreening the four kids and then myself is a task that takes forever. And, the cooking seems to never end as well.

But, the kids have a BLAST. They get to spend time with their cousins who they rarely get to see. It is alway fun to see who hangs with who. The oldest cousin is almost eighteen and my no. four, who is four, was the youngest this year. All the cousins are boys, my two girls are the only is the family, so it is always intesting to see what they do. They LOVE to chat and do things with their aunts.

There is lots of beach time. They also did a creek walk and caught lots of different things. I sat out for that and took lots of pictures (more my thing). There were several game nights (some uncles and cousins are big gamers) which they all love, and one of their favorite things to do is the night walk with the light sticks, always supplies by their aunt.

running

I started to run about three weeks ago. It has been a long time since I ran. I always hated running, but I was shocked to find out that I do not mind it as much as I thought I would. The only down side it that I always have two, three or four kids with me. They ride their bikes or scooters and I follow behind. The farthest that we have gone is 2.7 miles, but remember I always have a four year old scootering along side of me.
